It takes me a few seconds to register what is happening.

One minute I was in Royce’s face, as mad as a wet hen. The next minute I’m looking at the braided rug that covers the heart pine floor of his cabin. A second after that I hear the sound of his hand on my backside. Even through the blue jeans it hurts like hell.

“Fuck!” I scream, outraged.

“Don’t cuss at me, little girl,” he says. “Don’t cuss at me, and don’t tell me you don’t have to listen, because life doesn’t work that way.”

His hand falls again, the stinging impact driving tears of pain into my eyes. This only makes me angrier.

“I hate you, you fucking bastard!” I cry, even though it’s a lie. What I hate is the man who assaulted me, and the man who wants to cover it up. But Royce’s authority is the only thing I can push against so that’s what I do, and he’s pushing back. A third blow lands on my ass and this time I respond by sinking my teeth into his calf just above his boot.

I don’t make much of an impact through the thick fabric of his jeans, but it gets his attention.

“Okay, if that’s the way you want to play it.” His hand snakes underneath me then, and I feel him reach for the snap on my blue jeans. I wail in outrage as he pulls them down to the tops of my thighs, just enough to expose my panty-covered bottom, although covered isn’t the best word. My white cotton panties are skimpy and sheer. I’m sure Royce can already see the reddened skin of my sore ass cheeks through the fabric.

“You’re going to listen, Harley. Understand? You’re going to listen because it’s important.” His hand descends again. And again. And again, the work-calloused palm nearly covering the expanse of my small bottom, layering stinging heat on stinging heat. His strong arm easily restrains me over his hard thighs. I feel as helpless as a child being spanked over her father’s lap. Yet somewhere inside me lurks a woman’s wanton satisfaction at the dominance he’s exerting over me.

I struggle until my will to fight is expelled along with a hail of tears and I go limp over his lap.

Royce’s hand has come to rest on my tender, throbbing cheeks.

I’ve never been physically punished. I’ve never been spanked, until today.

A lot of folks don’t believe in it, but a sore backside delivered by a caring parent is a good reminder to choose what’s right.

Royce’s words come back to me now, resonating like the throb between my legs. I’m angry again, this time at myself for my hidden, shameful response. I direct that anger at him, though, as I push myself from his lap.

“You…” I bite my tongue, the name I’d planned to call him now lodged in my mouth from fear. I’m stumbling backwards as I haul my blue jeans up over my scorching ass. Royce is still seated on the chair, as calm as I am furious.
